Karachi: Two kidnappers killed during shootout at Super Highway

KARACHI: Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) during a joint search operation on Friday killed atleast two kidnappers and rescued two hostages at Karachi’s Super Highway Northern by-pass.

According to details, exchange of fire occurred between the police officials and kidnappers. SIU and CPLC released the Vice-President of a private bank Ghaus Muhammad.

Senior Superintendant Police (SSP) SIU Farooq Awan and CPLC chief Zubair Habib stated that the captive was kidnapped from Site area on August 14 whereas Rs10 crore was demanded from his family.

The suspects killed during the shootout have not been identified yet.

On the other hand, target killer of Uzair Baloch group was killed in police encounter in Chakewara whereas 15 were detained during search operation in Frear’s area Punjab Colony.

Besides this, during a combined operation of police and Rangers in Mubaina Town as many as two terrorists Farooq Baig and Liaquat Hussain were arrested. Security officials also confiscated two hand-grenades, two pistols and two motorcycles.

Four suspects were also detained from Noor Jahan Road and Iqbal market.
