Key militant commander among 42 arrested in Peshawar raids

PESHAWAR: The personnel of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Thursday claimed to arrested militant’s commander during a raid in Firdous Market, Peshawar.

Commander Younis, resident of the Khyber Agency, is associated with militants outfit Lashkar-e-Islam and arrested after inputs from intelligence agencies about his presence in the area.

A pistol and extra magazine was confiscated from the possession of the suspect.

Meanwhile, Police nabbed at least 42 suspects including Afghan nationals during counter terrorism raids carried out in Peshawar’s suburb areas.

At least 14 illegal Afghan nationals among the 42 arrested during operation.

The police claimed to have seized hand grenades, arms and drugs from their possessions.

The suspects were shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation.
