CHITRAL: Announcing a compensation of Rs300, 000 each for families of earthquake victims, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mushtaq Ghani said each district was affected by the natural calamity.
At least 185 people are confirmed dead in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the aftermath of a powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake which hit northern Afghanistan yesterday.
Overall, 270 people have been killed in the country.
“We have dispatched 2000 tents, 1000 blankets and 2000 floor mats to flood-hit people of Chitral and other affected areas,” Ghani told media persons in Peshawar.
He said that another 1500 were injured in the northwestern province.
The information minister said that relief and rescue operation was under way in affected district.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is expected to visit Lady Ready Hospital, where security has been beefed up.
The PTI chairman will get a briefing from KP government about the rescue operations.
