LHC full court to hear petition against MQM chief

LAHORE: Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC), Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik, Monday constituted full bench to hear a petition seeking registration of treason case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain over his anti-army speech.

The petition was filed by Aftab, a citizen of Lahore, who stated that Altaf Hussain made a speech against Pakistan Army and the state that falls under the ambit of treason.

He submitted that police have refused to register FIR against MQM chief on his complaint.

On his application, the LHC CJ, ordered constitution of a three-judge full bench under Justice Mazahir Ali Akber Naqvi to hear Aftab’s petition. Other members of the bench include Justice Mazhar Iqbal Sindh and Justice Erum Sajjad.
