KARACHI: A marriage hall was put on fire by angry residents of Orangi Town in Karachi after a missing minor girl was found dead.
The minor girl, identified as Pakeeza, who had been missing since Jan 25, was found murdered inside the water tank of marriage hall.
The girl had attended a wedding ceremony at the same marriage hall along with her family before she went missing in mysterious circumstances.
After five days of search, the victim was found dead in the water tank.
Later, enraged residents stormed the hall and set it on fire in protest against the killing of the girl. They also pelted a fire brigade vehicle with stones.
A heavy contingent of paramilitary Rangers force and police reached the scene, cordoned off the area and resorted to baton-charge to disperse the crowd.
Police said that they arrested eight staff members of the hall.
Situation remains tense in the area.
