Meeting between PM Nawaz, Afghan President underway in Kabul

KABUL: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani are holding one-on-one meeting at the Presidential Palace in Afghanistan to discuss matters of mutual interests and bilateral ties, the Radio Pakistan reported on Tuesday.

Army Chief General Raheel Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar are also present in the meeting.

Earlier, on on his arrival in Afghanistan, the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani accorded him warmth welcome at the Presidential Palace.

A formal reception was given in his honour. A smartly turned out contingent of Afghan Army presented guard of honour to the Prime Minister. On the occasion the National anthems of both the countries were played.

On his one-day visit to Kabul, the Prime Minister is accompanied by Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and senior officials.
