ISLAMABAD: A six-member delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) called on Prime Minister (PM) Sharif at PM House on Monday.
The MQM delegation, comprising Fatooq Sattar, Barrister Ali Saif, Kanwar Naveed, Muhammad Rehan Hashmi, Waseem Akhtar and Shabbir Qaimi presented the party’s point of view over the Karachi operation to the prime minister, which includes the formation of a monitoring committee to oversee the operation.
Premier Nawaz Sharif listened to the views of MQM delegation and assured them that their genuine concerns will be addressed.
The premier defended the ongoing operation in Karachi, saying only criminals were the target of security agencies.
“MQM will be the main beneficiary of the targeted operation,” Prime Minister Sharif said.
The government has decided to launch operations against all kinds of armed groups as well as sectarian violence,” PM added, adding that there was no room for sectarian groups in Pakistan.
The prime minister said that Karachi would soon become a peaceful city due to the targeted operation.
