Karachi: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) staged a protest outside the provincial election commission’s office on Tuesday against the delay in the elections for the mayor and the deputy mayor and reserved seats.

MQM’s mayoral candidate for Karachi, Waseem Akhtar said the protest was aimed to stop the ruling party from trying to rig the elections by delaying them.

“The unnecessary delay in completing the process of the local government polls and usurping of powers of the mayor are violation of the law,” he added.

Akhtar demanded Sindh government to announce the schedule for elections immediately.
