KARACHI: Ashfaq Mangi, a member of Sindh Assembly belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Monday joined Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) formed by former Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal last month.

Mangi was warmly greeted by PSP leaders Raza Haroon and Anees Advocate as he reached Kamal House to formally announce his decision to join MQM.

He is the fourth MQM’s MPA to have joined Kamal’s caravan after Dr Saghir Ahmed, Iftikhar Alam and Bilquis Mukhtar.

“I welcome Ashfaq Mangi and members of Sindh organizing committee in our party,” Mustafa Kama told the media.

“We have not come here to grab power. We are here to end the politics of hatred and spread love, harmony and brotherhood,” he said.

Kamal said that he won’t fully respond to criticism of his opponent due to time constraints. He said that thousands of MQM’s wickets have been fallen over the last few days.

Kamal said that his party’s mission was to eradicate the menace of poverty, hunger and ignorance.

The PSP leader said that MQM chief Altaf Hussain should show some moral courage and tell the truth to his community about his RAW’s connections. “Whatever you (Altaf) have told Scotland Yard, you should also share it with your workers,” he said.

Speaking on this occasion, Mangi said that he was deeply touched by Mustafa Kamal’s first press conference after returning to Pakistan.

“I announce to quit my membership of MQM and Sindh Assembly,” he said.
