MULTAN: Lahore High Court (LHC) declared on Wednesday Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) candidate Sadiq Baloch eligible to compete for local body polls in NA-154 Lodhran.
According to details, 3-member bench of Lahore High Court gave verdict in favor of Sadiq Baloch after hearing the case for three and a half hour while the lawyers of both parties gave their arguments.
Earlier, Sadiq Baloch was declared disqualified by a 2-member bench of LHC for concealing his assets a few days ago. Sadiq Baloch then approached three members larger bench consisting of Justice Mamoon Ur Rasheed, Justice Mehmood Afzal and Justice Shahid Mubeen.
After the short verdict from LHC, Sadiq Baloch will now be competing LB polls going to be held on December 23. PML-N workers celebrated the success by distributing sweets and dancing on Dhol beat.

According to the details, Multan bench of LHC gave the verdict on the petition filed by advocate Iffat Soomro in which she accused Sadiq Baloch for concealing the details of his assets.
She also gave the argument that Sadiq Baloch cannot use the lion as his symbol because that has already been assigned to Umair Baloch. Iffat Soomro is competing as independent candidate from NA-154 of Multan.
In a fresh notification issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday, by-election in NA-154 constituency of Lodhran will be held on December 23 this year.
As per schedule, Returning Officer will receive nomination papers by the candidates between November 19 and 20. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on November 26 and 27.
Last date for filing of appeals against decisions of the Returning Officer regarding rejection or acceptance of nomination papers to be submitted on November 30.
Moreover, revised list of the candidates will be published on December 8 and polling will be conducted on December 23, 2015.
The notification was issued after Supreme Court’s October 28 verdict in which the apex ended stay on conducting of re-election in NA-154 constituency of Lodhran and lifted restriction on PML-N candidate Siddique Baloch to contest the by-election.
Baloch, who won 2013 election as an independent candidate and later joined the PML-N, was de-seated and barred for lifetime from contesting elections by the Multan election tribunal on August 26 over possession of fake degree. His victory was challenged by runner-up candidate Jahangir Tareen.
