LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Punjab on Saturday arrested a Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) leader Qasim Zia on account of corruption.
Zia, one of the director’s of Ali Usman Securities, was arrested following a raid by NAB officials on account of his alleged involvement in a scam worth millions of rupees on the Lahore Stock Exchange.
Following the arrest Zia was presented in an accountability court where the court remanded him into NAB’s custody for 14 days.
The corruption was valued at approximately Rs700 million, and investigation is currently underway.
Zia is the former president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation and a former MPA at the Punjab Assembly.
