ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif on Thursday has said that neither his resignation nor protests would help in the prevailing crisis in Karachi.
He expressed these views while addressing the participants of National Assembly (NA) session.
Asif said that at least 3,000 people perished in heat wave in June in India. He said that at least 70 percent of the deaths in Karachi are those of laborers.
The federal minister said that it is Sindh government’s responsibility to look after patients in hospitals. He said that environmental changes are leading to increase in number of deaths. The provincial government also said that graveyards are falling short of space, he added.
Asif further said that protests and speeches by opposition parties would help in the crisis.
