Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday announced a Rs50,000 cash prize for ASI Farzana of Islamabad Police for her exemplary professional behaviour during the PTI protest on Thursday in the federal capital.
The interior minister also awarded ASI Farzana with a commendation certificate for performing her duties professionally.
He also praised the exemplary professional behaviour shown by the woman police officer, read a statement issued by interior ministry.
ASI Farzana had suffered minor bruises while performing her duty during a scuffle between police and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers on Thursday in Islamabad.
According to media reports, the PTI workers had accused Farzana of “assaulting” a female PTI worker.
Farzana in her video message described the incident in following words: “Female worker of PTI was trying to hit male police officers with a big stone when I tried to stop her. She attacked me and gave me bruises on my face and neck.”
“If I had not stop her from throwing that stone, she would have injured someone,” she maintained.
Female PTI worker Seemabia Tahir, when stopped from fighting with ASI Farzana, had said: “I am daughter of an army officer, you will bear the circumstances and you will remember that you messed with a PTI supporter.”
However, in another video message released on Saturday, Seemabia Tahir said: “I am being blamed for torturing a police constable, it was not intentional and all I did was in my self defence.”
