ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Senator Pervez Rasheed on Friday said that only Prime Minister (PM) and President can address to nation on state-run television, NewsONE Reported.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has sent a letter to state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) seeking arrangements for broadcast of Imran Khan’s address to nation on Sunday.
In a letter, PTI’s central Secretary Information, Naeem ul Haque, requested PTV to make necessary arrangements for Imran Khan’s live address to the nation on 10th April (Sunday) at 6:00 pm.
Rasheed said that if government allows Imran Khan then every other member with a single seat will demand to do so.
The minister added that address is aired on the TV after permission by National Assembly (NA) Speaker and Chairman Senate.
Rasheed further added that equal time is given to the government as well as the opposition in news.
Imran has addressed the nation in sit-ins. His press conferences and address in rallies is covered by the media, his demand to address the nation on PTV is just a political ploy, Rasheed concluded.
