KARACHI: Pakistan International Arilines (PIA) chairman Nasser Jaffer on Tuesday said the airline plans to hire services of pilots on contract.
Speaking at a press conference, he said the Pakistan Airline Pilots Association (PALPA) protest had a little effect on the flight operations as more than 90 percents of the pilots stood by the PIA.
Jaffer apologized to passengers for the difficulties they have faced due to on-going dispute.
Jaffer said only two flights out of total 107 were cancelled today (Tuesday). “A flight was cancelled due to bad weather while the other owing to non-availability of pilot,” he said , urging the pilots to show responsibly for the sake of country.
Replying to a question, he said the PIA management would discuss working agreement presented by the PALPA.
Jaffer said the Hajj operation was entirely unaffected as all the flights were landing according to their schedule.
