ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Monday presided over a consultative meeting at Prime Minister House wherein he discussed MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s recent speech against the armed forces with army chief General Raheel Sharif.

The PM and army chief exchanged views over Altaf Hussain’s speech in which the London-based MQM supremo made objectionable remarks against the armed forces and called for deployment of the UN and the NATO troops in Karachi.

In the meeting, reports said, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan briefed the PM and army chief over the speech and political situation arising from the development.

The meeting was also attended by Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Director General ISI, Lt. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar.

Sources said the top military officials briefed the PM about gains in the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation, crackdown against criminals and militants in different cities and peace talks with Taliban in Afghanistan.
