SHANGLA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday arrived in earthquake-hit Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where Monday’s calamity left dozens dead and injured amid widespread devastation.
The PM did not announce any aid package for the area, which worst hit district in KPK, however, he promised that compensation would be announced after consultation with Chief Minister KPK Pervez Khattak.
“No stone will be left unturned for relief and rehabilitation of people of Shangla,” vowed the PM while addressing locals following his meeting with key government officials.
The PM was earlier briefed by DCO, DIG, Chairman NDMA, and Governor KPK at a meeting wherein the authorities reviewed relief and rescue measures.
Military and civilian authorities have dispatched several helicopters to affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit and Azad Kashmir to assess damage and run rescue operations.
