BAHAWALPUR: Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday has inaugurated the second phase of country’s first solar power project.
The first phase has been completed which will add at least 100 Mega Watt (MW) in the national grid.
According to the details, 132 kilovoltes (kV) transmission line has been stretched for the electricity supply.
An advanced grid station has also been formed. The Punjab government has bore all the expenditures of the first solar project in the country.
Chinese president Xi Jinping had laid the foundation stone of the second phase of project during his historic visit in April. The PM had initiated the project in May 2014.
The project stretches across as many as 500 acres while the total cost of the project is Rs 15 billion.
The inaugural ceremony is being attended by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif and Chinese ambassador along with other dignitaries.
