LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived at the Lahore Airport to receive his Indian counterpart. It is not confirmed if the two leaders will hold their meeting at the airport lounger or whether the Indian Prime Minister will accompany Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Jati Umra where his Raiwind residence is located.

In light of his arrival and the meeting between the two leaders which is expected to last between one and two hours, special security arrangements have been put in place.

Sources had claimed that the Indian prime minister was expected to land at Lahore just before 3:00PM. However a little before 3:00PM Geo News reporter Adnan Malik reported that Modi’s plane was yet to take off from Kabul and therefore his arrival would not be at 3:00PM as had been claimed earlier.

Meanwhile at Lahore Airport flight operations have been severely affected with flights being diverted or being grounded while high security presence is already in place.

Earlier on Friday the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to express his desire to meet with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Lahore today.

Modi tweeted, “Looking forward to meeting PM Nawaz Sharif in Lahore today afternoon, where I will drop by on my way back to Delhi.”
