ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain offered his Eid prayer at Faisal Mosque in Islamabad.
A large number of people including parliamentarians, ministers and diplomats of Islamic countries also offered eid prayers at the Faisal Mosque.
After eid prayer, the President mixed up with the people and exchanged eid greetings.
Speaking on the occasion, the President congratulated the entire nation on the festive day of Eid. He prayed to Almighty Allah to shower His special blessings on the Pakistani nation and guide it overcome all challenges
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in their messages on the occasion said Eid is the epitome of collective happiness and its blessings should be shared as wide as possible.
The President said sharing Eid happiness with others is reflective of the fact that we are an organized Ummah, caring for each other.
He said it should be our endeavour that foundations of the country should firmly remain on democratic process.
Mamnoon Hussain said a corruption free and just society can be established if our institutions play their due role.
In his message, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said this sacred occasion exhorts us to promote harmony with the aim to inculcate love and affection for each other.
Nawaz Sharif said we must also be cognizant of the sacrifices rendered by our valiant armed forces who are steadfastly and successfully defending the national objective of security and peace of our country.
He said we must also remember our martyrs who have sacrificed their lives so that the nation lives in peace and tranquility.
He also said we must bear in mind the travails experienced by the Pakistanis displaced from North Waziristan who will be constrained to celebrate Eid in their camps.
The Prime Minister said we should also remember the victims of the Peshawar tragedy whose innocent martyrdom united the entire nation against terrorism with the resolve to root out this menace once for all.
He expressed the confidence that due to the collective sacrifices rendered by our nation, Pakistan will soon be blessed with long term peace and prosperity.
