MULTAN: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters on Wednesday faced-off outside the election tribunal’s office in Multan ahead of NA-154 verdict announcement.
As per details, workers of both parties chanted slogans against each other whereas barriers placed to keep the activists at bay have also been removed by the crowd.
The verdict over alleged rigging during the 2013 general elections in NA-154 is expected anytime as the tribunal officials are documenting it. It will finally be decided whether Jahangir Khan Tareen, Secretary General PTI will be able to de-seat Siddique Baloch of PML-N or will Baloch be able to keep his membership of National Assembly (NA).
Siddique Baloch had won this seat in the General Election 2013 as an independent candidate and joined PML-N afterwards.
PTI leader Jahangir Tareen had challenged this decision in the tribunal. Election tribunal’s judge Justice Rana Zahid will announce the verdict.
Local administration has deployed heavy contingent of police outside the tribunal’s office in Multan.
Earlier, election tribunal has annuled the election of NA-122 that was contested between Imran Khan and PML-N leader Ayaz Sadiq.
