ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader and member of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Khursheed Shah on Monday stated that Punjab government and federation have got furious over the involvement of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the province.
Talking to media in Islamabad, the leader stated that something is hidden as the behavior of ministers has become strange. He alleged that officials are being stopped from investigation.
Nothing will be surfaced due to barrier holding probe against the culprits, he added.
Khursheed Shah showed disappointment over government for nothing telling Parliament about Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) issue.
While talking about Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) matter, he said that government can easily resolve the problem in joint session of Parliament but this will cost heavy price.
It is worth mentioning here that earlier, NAB had apprehended Orange Line Metro project’s contractor Aamir Latif earlier which allegedly irked the Prime Minister. Kalson Private Limited, a company owned by the contractor is working on the Orange Line project launched by Punjab government.
Law Minister Rana Sanaullah had said that there is no pressure on NAB and the Prime Minister (PM) only wants it to function with added responsibility.
Sanaullah said that there is no pressure from any political section on the accountability department. But the bureau nabs officials for transactions that were made around 25 years back, he added.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not criticize NAB but what he said should be perceived as a recommendation. The Law Minister also said that department should not detain investors for long hours.
He said that Punjab authorities would welcome bureau’s action against corruption in Punjab.
