LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri has announced to return to Pakistan to spearhead a sit-in in Lahore to demands justice of the victims of Model Town incident.

At least 14 workers of PAT were killed when police raided Minhaj ul Quran Secretariat in Lahore on June 17, 2014.

“Two years have been passed but justice is not served… I will land at Lahore airport on morning of June 15 and lead the sit-in on Mall Road on June 17,” Qadri said while address a press conference via video link.

“The sit-in is being arranged to demand justice for martyrs of Model Town,” he said.

“We have been making efforts to get a copy of Justice Baqar Najfi’s report for last one and half years but to no avail so far. We are hopeful that the sun of goodness will rise and the oppressed will get justice,” Qadri said.

The PAT chief urged army chief to play his role.

“General Raheel played his part in getting FIR of Model Town massacre registered. Now please play your role in providing the justice too,” he said, adding that entire credit for restoration of peace in the country goes to Pakistan armed forces.

“Action against terrorism is responsibility of the army under the National Action Plan. We seek justice on the Model Town massacre.”
