ISLAMABAD: Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique criticized Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for stopping Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Siraj-ul-Haq from staging a rally in Karachi.

Khawaja Saad Rafique, addressing a ceremony in Lahore, said that restraining political parties from making speeches and interacting with voters is a strange act.

Rafique said that ECP should review its electoral rules.

“I congratulate JI for making an alliance with a liberal party but it should clarify its ideological base”, Rafique said.

Rafique added that the masses vote for those parties who have worked for the people.

The railways minister said that Rangers would not have launched targeted operations in Karachi if Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was working properly for the people.
