KARACHI: At least 20 people including 16 children sustained injuries as the roof of a religious seminary collapsed in North Karachi area on Thursday.
The Central District Commissioner said the incident took place as the seminary administration started to construct over the facility’s non-concrete floor.
Later, the principle of the seminary was also taken into custody.
The injured children were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed hospital where three of them are said to be in a critical condition. The officials feared that some children may still be trapped under the debris.
Following the incident, Administrator Karachi directed the city administration to provide free medicines to the injured children. He said investigation into the incident was underway.
