SC extends illegal hoardings’ deadline by four weeks, rejects reports

KARACHI: Faisal Cantonment Board on Wednesday has filed report in the Supreme Court (SC) regarding illegal billboards in the area.

The report states that there are as many as 93 illegal hoardings in the cantonment. The boards are erected in areas occupied by Civil Aviation, Station Headquarters (HQ), Railways, Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

Civil Aviation’s land has the most number of illegal hoardings amounting to 33. Navy has 31, Station HQ, 26, PAF has two while Railways has one.

The report states that at least 14 illegal billboards have been taken down in Karsaz area after the orders. As many as ten hoardings from Rashid Minhas Road and Askari area have also been removed.

The SC had ordered the authorities to take down illegal hoardings by August 26.
