SC orders to combine petitions on MQM, PTI resignations

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued notices to as many as 97 respondents including the prime minister, leader of the opposition, National Assembly Speaker in a case pertaining to resignations of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers from the National Assembly.

The notices were issued by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zahir Jamali during the hearing of different petitions regarding the PTI and MQM lawmakers’ resignations.

The petitions were filed by former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Zafar Ali Shah.

During the hearing, the top court ordered to combine all the petitions as one case. The hearing was adjourned indefinitely.
