ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday upheld verdict of an election tribunal ordering re-election on PP-240 Dera Ghazi Khan.

Three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, dismissed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s MPA Shamoona Badshah Qaisrani plea against the decision of Election Tribunal.

The Election Tribunal, headed by retired district and sessions judge Chaudhry Abdul Hafeez, had disqualified her in November 2014 for concealing assets.

The Election Tribunal had declared elections void and ordered re-polling in the constituency on the plea filed by Khawaja Daud Sulemani, an independent candidate, who had alleged that his opponent concealed her property and hidden assets.

Later, she approached the apex court and challenged the tribunal decision in seeking tribunal verdict null and void.

Today, the Supreme Court upheld the tribunal decision and ordered re-election in the constituency.
