ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday said corruption was a complicated issue which needed serious and united efforts to get rid of the menace.
Nisar was responding to a motion moved by Senator Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi on the issue of corruption in federal government departments.
The minister said simply talks could not address the issue of corruption as “it is a chronic issue and we need to forge unity against corruption.”
“We also need to have consensus and commitment that there will not be our personal interests and we should make joint efforts to combat this issue.”
Nisar added it would be a great task but there was no better forum than Senate which had given ample time to discuss the issue and gathered recommendations of legislators to control the issue of corruption.
The minister said formation of committees to combat corruption was a good move but more endeavours were required to control this issue permanently.
