KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has ordered to close all the liquor shops in the province forthwith and directed the director general of the E&T department to revoke all the licenses.
The SHC Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, who was heading the bench that was hearing the petition against the liquor shops, consulted the religious leaders of Hindu, Christian and Sikh communities who were present in the court.
They told the court that no religion permits drinking wine.
Earlier, the court reprimanded the DG Excise & Taxation department for failing to implement the SHC order of closing all the liquor shops.
The bench directed the concerned authorities to seek certificate from the respective religious leader before issuing any license.
