ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Interior Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan has ordered the reconstruction of the D-Chowk to ensure that no protests or sit-ins are staged at the sensitive area in future.
Investigation regarding the intrusion of the recent protestors in the D-Chowk area is ongoing. The demonstrators staged a sit-in there for four days only to be ended after their negotiations with the government became fruitful.
The committee formed to do the investigation inquired on the first day of its working from Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Interim Inspector Khalid Khattak, Deputy Commissioner and Special Superintendent Police Sajid Kiyani.
The three-member committee is led by Special Secretary of the Interior Shoaib Siddiqui and will present its finding in seven day’s time.
At the same time, Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar has ordered the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to reconstruct the D-Chowk in a manner that no sit-ins or protests can be held in the area in future.
