RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s top military leadership huddled together at the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSC) meeting here on Tuesday and reviewed the progress of the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb against terrorism in the country.
According to a press release by the ISPR, the meeting was presided by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Rashad Mahmood and attended by General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, Chief of Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Chief of Air Staff and other senior military officers from the tri-services.
The forum lauded the sacrifices and contributions made by the armed forces in the operation.
Gen Rashad Mahmood appreciated the military for securing the confidence of the people by successfully fighting terrorism.
All military leaders resolved to continue operations to eliminate terrorism and help the government fight extremism, said the press statement.
Issues pertaining to national security and emerging regional geo-strategic environment were also discussed during the meeting. The participants expressed satisfaction over the standard of preparedness of the armed forces to take on internal and external challenges, said the ISPR statement.
The forum reaffirmed the resolve of the armed forces to respond to the entire spectrum of threat in the most befitting manner as per comprehensive security strategy, it said.
