ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday said that officials of the London Metropolitan Police are expected to arrive later this week to investigate the three key suspects detained in Pakistan pertaining to murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Imran Farooq.
Nisar said that government is in touch with the British government through diplomatic means and Pakistan has informed them about the arrest of suspects.
“Moazzam Ali Khan was arrested by Rangers in Karachi two months back while two accused Mohsin Ali and Khalid Shamim were arrested by Frontier Constabulary near Quetta,” Interior Minister added.
Nisar added that all the three accused are detained under the anti-terrorism act, adding it is not yet decided whether interrogation would be held directly or indirectly.
Nisar further added that this is a high profile case and its complete and impartial investigation is crucial. He said that government is trying its best to ensure transparency in the investigation of case.
Nisar also said that the investigation of case has nothing to do with MQM.
“MQM has repeatedly said that they want to see the culprits in the court of law. The case is registered in London so kite flying on the issue should be avoided,” Nisar said.
