Upper Dir: By-election underway in PK-93

UPPER DIR: By-election is being held for KPK assembly seat, PK-93, at Dir Upper district on Tuesday. The seat was vacated by Jamaat-e-Islami’s MPA Behram Khan.

The polling process started at 8am and will continue till 5pm without any break.

There are four candidates including two independents candidates—Jamshed Khan and Shah Faisal.

However, close fight is expected between Malik Azam Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami and Sahibzada Sanaullah of PPPP.

The seat turned vacant after an Election Tribunal (ET) disqualified JI’s MPA Malik Behram Khan for possessing a fake educational degree.

JI candidate Malik Azam Khan is son of Behram Khan.

There are 148,077 registered voters in the constituency. Of them, 90,365 are men and 57,760 are women.

The voters will exercise their right to ballot at 120 polling stations. Of them, 90 polling stations have been declared as most sensitive and 30 as sensitive.

Over 7,000 police and Levies personnel have been deployed to guard the polling stations.
