US National Security Adviser meets Army chief

ISLAMABAD: US National Security Adviser Ambassador Susan Rice called on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, ISPR reported.

In a press statement on Sunday, army’s chief spokesman Maj-Gen Asim Bajwa said that matters of mutual interest including regional security situation were discussed between General Raheel Sharif and Ambassador Rice.

Bajwa said that Ambassador Susan Rice acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan Army’s sincere efforts and sacrifices in war against terrorism.

Both dignitaries also recognized the continued need for close coordination for ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region.
