KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has congratulated all the Party candidates who won in the first phase of Local Bodies elections in 20 districts of Sindh and Punjab and sent clear and resounding message across the country that PPP is the only true national party.

In his message on Sunday, Former President also expressed grief and sorrow over deaths of more than a dozen people in an armed clash between an independent panel and an opposition party in Khairpur, Faisalabad and other parts of Punjab.

These were tragic incidents and both the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the administration should ensure to put in place adequate security measures in the next phases of Local Bodies election for peaceful polling, he added.

Zardari said that the election results have demolished the dreams and predictions of the PPP foes who propagated that PPP was finished.

“It is now the testament of the history that PPP always emerged victorious after every time it was subjected to worst kind of victimization and baseless propaganda.”

“Generation after generation, Jiyalas and the people of Pakistan crushed such propagandas with their votes whenever the elections are held in free and fair manner, PPP Co-Chairman stated.

Zardari extended special congratulations to the PPP candidates who won in Punjab despite adverse conditions and a hostile environment created by enemies and opponents with strings connected to undemocratic forces.

“I am sure that results of the second and third phases of Local Bodies elections in Punjab will be big surprise for our adversaries,” he remarked.

The PPP Co-chairman further said that people of Sindh have completely rejected the propaganda against the Party and elected our candidates with thumping majority in all the eight districts.

He said that Local bodies elections will usher in a new era of development and progress with grass-root agenda to further strengthen democracy and the democratic forces.
