Apple has revealed that its first HomeKit enabled smart home devices will be launching next month.

Apple’s software platform will allow the company’s devices to control connected home appliances.

However, according to reports this platform was experiencing problems, and HomeKit devices were to be delayed.

Trudy Muller an Apple spokeswoman, said: “HomeKit [hardware certification] has been available for just a few months and we already have dozens of partners who have committed to bringing HomeKit accessories to market and we’re looking forward to the first ones coming next month.”

HomeKit was first showcased at the Worldwide Developers Conference last June, which would transform the iPhone or iPad into a command system for a range of smart devices, including thermostats and locks.

The tech company revealed that HomeKit would use a ‘common protocol’ to allow devices to communicate with each other, and would link via an iPhone or iPad.
