Independence Day of Gilgit-Baltistan today

The Independence Day of Gilgit-Baltistan is being celebrated with simplicity on Sunday.


Gilgit-Baltistan was liberated from Dogra forces and declared its independent State on 1st Nobember 1947.

The day dawned with special prayers at mosques after Fajar prayer for solidarity, prosperity and integrity of Pakistan.

In Gilgit, the main ceremony was held in the historical Chinar Bagh. Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman laid wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shauda at Chinar Bagh and offered Fateha.

A contingent of GB police presented guard of honor to pay tribute to the heroes of the independence war.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister highlighted the gallantry of Gilgit Scouts during the war in 1947.

Among others Banazir Income Support Progam Chairperson Marvi Memon, GB Legislative Assembly Speaker Fida Muhammed Nashad, cabinet ministers and ghazies of libration war were also present at the ceremony.
