NEW DELHI: In a bizarre incident, a bottle of water became the centre of attention at an official event in India’s Chhattisgarh when a live snake was found inside it.

The snake was discovered among 20 bottles ordered for the event, marketed under the name Aman Aqua by a doctor present at the event held at the headquarters of the ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The owner of the company, Sayed Shafiq Aman, whose father, Sayed Ali Aman, is incidentally BJP’s Raipur District Minority Cell’s Vice President, said that the allegations were false and that his company took the utmost care in packaging water.

“It’s a conspiracy against me. When I was shown the bottle, its seal was broken,” he added.

According to British media, all the water bottles have been recalled. The state government has also ordered a check on mineral water bottles across the state.

Chief Minister Raman Singh and the federal Health Minister JP Nadda were also present at the event.
