KARACHI: Global consulting firm Mercer headquartered in New York on Wednesday has ranked Pakistan’s Karachi on eighth number in world’s cheapest cities list.
According to details, a survey was conducted among 209 cities of the world in which, Karachi was given eighth position on the basis of economical residence, transport, food, garments and recreational activities.
Namibia’s capital Windhoek was declared as the cheapest city while Johannesburg and Cape Town have also been included in the list.
On the other hand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai and Beijing were among world’s luxurious cities whereas Mumbai stood on 82 number, Delhi on 130 and Islamabad has taken 180th position in expensive cities list.
The annual survey calculated the rankings from exchange rates and an international basket of goods and services in March this year.
