The death anniversary of first Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaheed-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan is being observed on Friday (Oct 16).
Liaquat Ali Khan was assassinated on 16 October 1951‚ during a public meeting the Muslim League at Company Bagh in Rawalpindi which was later named Liaquat Bagh after him.
He was a close confidante of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.
He assisted Muhammad Ali Jinnah in campaigning for the creation of a separate state for Indian Muslims.
Various organizations will hold functions to pay tribute to Shaheed-e-Millat for his services for the nation.
