Ashes: Smith, Rogers hit tons as Australia reach 337-1 on stumps

LONDON: Australia, after winning the toss, were 337-1 against England at stumps on the first day of the second Ashes Test at Lord’s on Thursday.

Chris Rogers was 158 not out and Steven Smith 129 not out, with their unbroken second-wicket stand so far worth 259 runs.

David Warner had given Australia a perfect start with a quick 38, while Moeen Ali had Warner caught at wide long off by James Anderson.

England lead the five-match series 1-0 after their 169-run win in the first Test in Cardiff last week.
