Court issues arrest warrant for legendary pacer Wasim AkraA local court in Karachi issued a bailable arrest warrant for cricket legend Wasim Akmran in connection with an armed attack on his car back in 2015.
The gun assault took place in August 2015 when Wasim Akram was heading to National Cricket Stadium to conduct a training session.
A man rammed a vehicle into his car and then opened fire before fleeing. “A car hit my vehicle and when we asked the driver to pull over, he stepped out and opened fire,” Wasim told reporters shortly after the shooting.
“He definitely looked like an official,” he said of the shooter. “If he can do this to me, what will he do to the common man?”
The police termed the gun attack an incident of road rage.
Akram said road rage was normal, but added that settling disputes with weapons was uncalled for.
Wasim Akram had lodged an FIR against the assailant, who later tendered an unconditional apology.
The court took up Akram’s application and issued several notices to cricketer for appearance. But the former pacer never showed up.
Issuing the arrest warrant on Tuesday, the court summoned Akram again on January 17.
