Apart from the Shahid Afridi controversy and issues of Pakistani team visiting India, there is more to the ICC World Twenty20 this time.
Keeping the politics at bay, Indians and Pakistanis are showing open support to the team of the other country. This was visible through social networking site, Facebook.
Hundreds of Indian cricket fans are putting the Pakistani frame around their picture. And the same is being done by Pakistani fans. Interestingly, they are using the same hashtag #ProfilesForPeace.
Fans are using facebook.com/profilepicframe and profile frame to show support to their favorite teams.
This has even caught the attention of CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg’s who recently posted his views on his profile about it. “Something pretty interesting is happening in India and Pakistan on Facebook right now,” Mark wrote.
He added that profile frames were created to help people to show support to their favorite teams or for a cause they believe in.
“But this story shows that the more connected we are, the more we realize that what unites us is more important than what divides us.”
