Pakistan bowled out cheaply, England need 99 in 19 overs

ABU DHABI: An extraordinary batting collapse from Pakistan has opened the door for England to pursue an incredible victory in the first Test at Abu Dhabi.

The hero of the hour was Adil Rashid, who bounced back from his wicketless first-innings figures of 0 for 163 to claim 5 for 64, including two wickets in two balls to wrap up Pakistan’s innings for 173.

Only Misbah-ul-Haq, with 51, and Younis Khan, 45, showed real resistance, although both men fell rashly, not least Misbah, who charged at Moeen Ali to be bowled through the gate and spark the collapse.

England will need 99 to win in a theoretical 19 overs, although the reality is that the light will fade in approximately 45 minutes from the start of their run-chase.
