ISLAMABAD: Pakistan handball team will be defending its title in the SAFF Games to be staged in January next year at India.
Talking to APP, handball player Usman Anjum, who is undergoing training in the camp underway at Pakistan Sports Complex, said we have high hopes to defend our title in the event.
As many as 18 players are participating in the camp including Shahid Pervaiz, Zakir Hussain, Hazrat Hussain, Rehmat Shah, Mobin Ashraf, Naveed Nawaz, Khurram Asif, Asif Ali, Zubair Aziz, Usman Zahid, Imran Shahzad, Asim and Muzamil, he said.
He said the coaches training the players are Rana Izhar ul Haq and Sultan Mehmood Ali.
Recalling his memory of the past victory Usman said Pakistan team became champion by beating India by seven goals in 2010 at Bangladesh in the SAFF Games.
He said in next year’s SAFF Games, a tough competition is expected against the Indian team but hopefully Pakistan will beat India and will also defend its title.
