LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan has cleared middle-order batsman Umar Akmal for selection in the national team, according to an official press release.
Shaharyar called in the 26-year-old for a one-on-one meeting and explained the reasons for his exclusion from the national side.
Umar, along with opener Ahmad Shahzad, was dropped from the national team on disciplinary grounds after the report submitted by then head coach Waqar Younis following the World T20 debacle.
The Lahore Qalandars batsman committed himself to avoid future lapses in discipline and declared himself whole-heartedly dedicated to the welfare of the team.
Following a successful meeting, the PCB chairman informed chief selector Inzamamul Haq that the Lahore-born batsman is eligible for future selection.
