LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan said that cricket and politics must be kept separate, hoping that series with India will be played according to the schedule.
His remarks came in the middle of a political tension between two countries following controversial remarks of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent visit to Bangladesh.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has linked the possibility of tour with approval from the government.
“Cricket and politics should not be mixed with each other,” Khan said, adding that Pakistan had toured India in the past despite threats.
To a question, he rejected the notion that a lobby was conspiring against him in the cricket board.
“Situation is better in the PCB,” he maintained.
Answering a question, he said that there was no dispute between players and the board on the issue of central contract.
