COLOMBO: Leg spin bowler Amit Mishra took four wickets to help India gain an 87-run first innings lead by bowling Sri Lanka out for 306 on the third day of the second test Saturday.
Mishra finished with 4-43 as India overcame a century from Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews and a 127-run partnership between Mathews and Lahiru Thirimanne for the fourth wicket.
Mathews made 102 off 167 deliveries while Thirimanne was out for 62. Opener Kaushal Silva also scored a half-century with 51.
Seam bowler Ishant Sharma took two key wickets to turn the tide as Sri Lanka lost their last seven wickets for 65 runs.
