Wimbledon: Sania Mirza-Martina Hingis storm to doubles finals

LONDON: The World No.1 pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis cruised to their maiden Wimbledon final with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears.


Mirza and Hingis won 88% points on their first serves and broke their fifth seeded opponents twice to win the opening set.

Jones and Speras did have three break point opportunities late in the first set, but they failed to capitalize on them.

The No.1 seeds won 76% points of first serve in second set and got a couple of breaks of serve at crucial moments to walk away with the set and the match.

Mirza and Hingis hit one ace and six winners as they wrapped up the match in just 56 minutes.

Mirza has three mixed doubles Grand Slam titles Australian Open 2009, French Open 2012 and US Open 2014. She is yet to win a doubles Grand Slam title.
